Delta Air Lines announced Wednesday it is offering travel waivers to Punta Cana in the Dominican Republic, citing "recent events" in the city that impact travel.

The impacted travel dates are from June 21 to Aug. 15.

Delta customers can either have their flight changed and have their fee waived, or cancel the trip and use the value of the tickets toward another flight.

While Delta did not specify what the "recent events" were, the announcement comes after a number of tourist deaths were reported in the Dominican Republic.
