Napoli beats Sampdoria to stretch league lead as Milan draws
MILAN (AP) — Napoli has bounced back from its first league defeat of the season to beat 10-man Sampdoria 2-0 and extend its lead at the top of Serie A. Victor Osimhen opened the scoring after Matteo Politano had seen an early penalty saved. Any chance Sampdoria’s Tomás Rincón was sent off shortly before halftime and Napoli sealed the result with another penalty after the break. Napoli moved seven points clear of Juventus and defending champion AC Milan. The Rossoneri were held to a 2-2 draw at home to Roma following two late goals from the visitors. There were clashes between travelling Roma and Napoli supporters. Around 300 fans were involved and part of the motorway had to be closed.
