Knights’ Pietrangelo ends absence after daughter’s recovery
LAS VEGAS (AP) — Vegas Golden Knights defenseman Alex Pietrangelo has returned to practice after a nine-game absence. He says he left because his 4-year-old daughter became seriously ill but feels comfortable that Evelyn is progressing well enough that he could return. The Knights are scheduled to play Saturday night at home against the New York Islanders. Pietrangelo says Eveyln came down with the flu over Thanksgiving and developed encephalitis, which created a lesion on her brain. That caused her to lose her motor skills, including not being able to open her eyes for the first five days.
