MELBOURNE, Australia (AP) — Talk about going bananas: There has been an unusual show of sportsmanship at the Australian Open when one player offered a piece of fruit to his opponent during their third-round match. Dan Evans helped out Andrey Rublev during a changeover late in the first set. Rublev joked after his victory that Evans’ snack-sharing helped fuel him. The fifth-seeded Rublev beat the 25th-seeded Evans 6-4, 6-2, 6-3. Tennis players often will munch on bananas during breaks in matches because they are a healthy, fat-free source of carbohydrates and potassium.
