1 injured in Maple Grove fire

Fire officials say one person was injured Friday afternoon after a fire broke out in a garage in Maple Grove.

According to Maple Grove Fire Chief Tim Bush, crews were called to the 9700 block of 105th Avenue and were eventually joined by Anoka-Champlin and Osseo firefighters after a second-alarm upgrade was requested.

Bush said one resident was injured by smoke inhalation and possible burns.

The bulk of the fire was knocked down by the crews who first arrived, and just before 2 p.m., firefighters were still working to extinguish flames, as well as contain fire extension.

Golden Valley firefighters also assisted by providing rehabilitation and monitoring the health of crews.

The cause of the fire is under investigation but authorities say a snowblower may have caught fire somehow.
