Ellen Galles

Previous Experience

Ellen joined KSTP 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS in May of 2012. She began her broadcasting career as a one-man band in Traverse City Michigan at WPBN. She then spent 4 years in Memphis, Tennessee at WPTY as a general assignment reporter and heading up the consumer unit. In 2003, Ellen moved to Minneapolis and spent several years at the KMSP – FOX 9.

Awards/Memorable Interviews

Ellen has been part of Emmy-award winning coverage and has appeared on national network television a number of times including CNN and FOX Newschannel. Her most memorable experience over the years was covering the Pope’s funeral in Rome, Italy for two weeks as part of a special bureau composed of FOX’s biggest affiliates.

Education

Ellen graduated summa cum laude with a double major in Communications and Political Science from Loyola University of Chicago.

Personal Interests

Ellen, her husband and two sons live in South Minneapolis where they love taking bike rides along Minnehaha Creek and hanging out at a few of Minnesota’s 10,000 lakes in the summer time. She and her family also love snow and Minnesota’s winters. They can be found ice skating at their neighborhood rink and occasionally venturing out onto a frozen lake for some ice fishing. She also loves traveling and reading in her (non-existent) free time.
