Person hospitalized after officer-involved-shooting in Robbinsdale, BCA investigating

An individual is in the hospital after an officer discharged their firearm due to the individual coming out of a residence with a firearm, began advancing at officers and ignoring commands to stop Saturday night.

According to the Robbinsdale Police Department, at 11:38 p.m., Robbinsdale officers were dispatched to a report of a suicidal individual with a gun inside a home on the 3300 block of France Avenue North.

The preliminary investigation indicated that once officers arrive on the scene, they were met with the reporting party outside of the residence. Officers from the Crystal Police Department also arrived to help assist.

According to police, unexpectedly, the individual came out of the residence with a firearm and began advancing on the officers.

The individual ignored commands to stop, then an officer discharged their firearm, striking the individual.

The individual was transported to North Memorial Medical Center.

The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is investigating the incident. No further information was given at this time.
