February 17, 2018 10:29 PM

KSTP Meteorologist Nicole Mitchell said Twin Cities residents will have the opportunity to enjoy warm weather before a measurable amount of snow is expected to make its way through the area.

Sunday is expected to be cloudy, however, temperatures are expected to reach the 40s.

Mitchell said the northern portion of the state is expected to see some snow during the day Sunday.

Starting overnight Sunday, Mitchell said a wintry mix is expected to move into the area. The wintry mix is expected to turn into snow by Monday.

The Twin Cities could see between 2 to 3 inches of snow Monday. Temperatures on Monday are expected to reach 26 degrees.

Because temperatures will be warmer, Mitchell said road treatments will work better, helping those who are out on the roads.

There is expected to be some lingering snow Tuesday, which could bring snow totals between 2 to 4 inches, Mitchell said.
