Thunderstorms Rolling Across Minnesota Thursday

August 18, 2016 06:06 PM

Thunderstorms moving across Minnesota are approaching the Twin Cities metro from the west early Thursday afternoon.

KSTP Meteorologist Jonathan Yuhas says two waves of storms are expected throughout the day, and some could be severe.

The first wave will impact the Twin Cities metro during the afternoon, and then more storms are expected to develop between 3-6 p.m. along the South Dakota-Minnesota border before moving east.

The second wave is expected in the Twin Cities metro between 7 p.m. Thursday and 2 a.m. Friday.

Yuhas says the storms could bring high winds and spot flooding.

High temperatures Thursday will be in the upper 80s, and dew points will also be high, creating steamy conditions.
