Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be a model?  I got the chance to find out earlier today!  I took off my meteorologist hat and traded it in for a gorgeous gown and high heels...all for a good cause.  Check out my latest "Chik's Pics" for a behind-the-scenes look at the YWCA Purses and Passion fashion show at the Minneapolis Convention Center.

WINDLER: Chik's Pics - Why I Love Minnesota

Thursday, April 30th, 2009 - My Trip Down the Catwalk in Minneapolis

Model?  ME?  Why would I get a chance to live the life of a model...if only for a day?  It's all about who you know, I guess :-)  If you've watched 5 Eyewitness News lately, you may have noticed that Jon Charles Salon does the hair of most of the on-air talent.  The salon was also a sponsor of the YWCA Purses and Passion fashion show.  Jon Charles and Craig Weitz volunteered their stylists to do hair for the event.  Turns out, they needed some extra models, and I answered the call!  Why not have a little fun before work, right?

BEFORE 8 am: I'm getting my hair done by Steven from Jon Charles Salon

AFTER Noon: A successful show!  Such fun to model fabulous dresses from Il Vostro!

Here's a slideshow of the events:

I had so much fun being a model for a day (actually, a half-day).  I still came into work this afternoon and as usual, did my 4:30 & 5pm weathercasts!  Did you notice a little extra strut in front of the weather wall?  Maybe a little extra turn and twirl when I pointed at temperatures?  No?  Me neither.  Don't worry, I'll definitely be sticking to my day job :-)

P.S.  I was thrilled to meet all the women in attendance at the YWCA event.  THANK YOU for your generous donations to such a good cause.  I was so proud to get a winning bid of $800 for the Kate Spade purse and wallet that I modeled!

Thanks as always for reading my blog!
