WINDLER: Chik's Pics - 2nd Straight Day in the 70s!

It's amazing to think that at the beginning of this week, April temps were running 4 degrees cooler than average.  Now, as we close this week with 2 straight 70-degree days, that deficit has been erased.  The high made it to 73 on Friday, the warmest since 74 on November 3rd of last year.  Since Dave was off today, I got to come in a little later than usual (and of course stay a little later, too, which is why I'm blogging at 9:30 on a Friday night!)  The later in-time gave me time to take Austen to the park.  Today's "Chik's Pics" destination was Island Lake County Park in Shoreview.  Check out my latest batch of Austen pics and other nice weather pics in this blog.

WINDLER: Chik's Pics - Warmest Day of the Year!

Friday, April 17th, 2009 - Island Lake County Park in Shoreview

The weather: beautiful again!  Are we spoiled or what?  Thought some clouds did form overnight and linger into the first part of the morning, we had broken out into nearly full sunshine by 10:30.  It remained mostly sunny for the rest of the day.  Two positives from the fire danger front: slightly higher relative humidity (it was about 26% with dewpoints in the 30s as opposed to yesterday and the day before when dewpoints were desert-dry in the teens to low 20s) and less wind.

When Austen and I arrived at the park, we started the fishing pier to take some pics.  Here's my favorite:

Austen's all smiles in her sunglasses!

Being the doting mom I am, I put a jacket on Austen just in case the breeze made her feel too cool, but it was a pretty silly idea.  Temps were already in the 60s and I was perfectly comfortable in a t-shirt.  So after a little bit of playing on the playground, I asked Austen if we should take her jacket off and she quickly said "Take it off!"

Much Better now!

The hard part about being at the park on such a gorgeous day was convincing Austen it was time to leave!  She could have spent a lot longer climbing through the tunnels, sliding, and swinging!  But I told her we'd come back again another day and we said "bye-bye playground!" "bye-bye swings!" "bye-bye slide!"  I'm so lucky to have a happy little girl...and so thankful that she's so verbal at such a young age - just 18 months.  I found out that after waking up from her nap, the first thing she said was "Park!"  And who would blame her?  It was indeed an amazing day of sunshine and 70s!

Peek-a-boo!
