Oh, it's great to be back on my regular shift! After working 3 straight mornings for Patrick, I got to "sleep in" this morning! When I did wake up, I ran out to grab the newspaper wearing capri workout pants and a t-shirt. I knew it was going to be a great day when I wasn't even cold at just before 8 in the morning! I had an 11am meeting at the National Weather Service Office in Chanhassen and it was already in the low 60s by then! Then after the meeting, I stopped by nearby Lake Ann Park to take my "Chik's Pics" of the day. It was 66 degrees and rising. I knew...I could just sense...it was about to be our first 70 degree day of the year. Get the rest of my story and check out all my pics in my latest blog.

Thursday, April 16th, 2009 - Lake Ann Park in Chanhassen The weather: beautiful sunshine filtered at times by high cirrus clouds. The only negative: it was really breezy (bordering on windy) and that made it feel a little cooler than the 71 degree high might imply. Another thing that everyone's been talking about is the high fire danger. We had some pictures of a man's East Bethel home that had burned with an afternoon grassfire. It's so sad to see that...and the only cure is rain, which we desperately need. But if you put that aside, you can't deny how great it was to enjoy our first 70 degree day of the year and the warmest day since 71 on November 4th. It hit 74 on November 3rd, in case you're wondering when the last day was that topped 71. Our normal for April 16th is 58...so this is pretty amazing warmth. And in amazing warmth, you expect to see people outside enjoying the weather. I was actually half-expecting to see more people at Lake Ann Park...but it is a workday, so there weren't a ton of people traipsing around. I did see a couple people getting in an early afternoon run (in shorts, of course). And there were a handfull of people walking, or walking their dogs. As for me, I was in a rush to get back to the station to prepare for my 4:30 & 5pm shows...but I did take a few minutes anyway to enjoy the fresh spring air, the warmth, and the beautiful lake. See for yourself in my latest round of "Chik's Pics" below: Thanks as always for reading my blog! -Chikage
