One of the perks of filling in on the AM shift when Patrick's on vacation is I get a nice break between the morning Good Morning America news and weather briefs and our Midday show which starts at 11. On a quiet weather day like today, that means the perfect opportunity to go out and grab some fresh "Chik's Pics" for the Midday show. Today, I stopped by Richfield Lake to enjoy the sights and sounds of Spring on what looks to be the warmest day of the year so far! Check out all my pics in my latest blog.

Wednesday, April 15th, 2009 - Richfield Lake in Richfield The weather: spectacular sunshine and on track to be even warmer than Tuesday! The temp at 11am was already 58 degrees and we should see highs in the upper 60s, tying or maybe even breaking the warmest this year! Back on March 16th, we climbed to a high of 67. What a beautiful day! Since I woke up in the middle of the night to be ready to go on air at 5am, I hadn't been outside to enjoy the sunshine yet. But once I stepped outside around 9:30 this morning, I couldn't help but smile. Yesterday was a stellar spring day, and today has all the makings of being even better! I decided to drive to Richfield Lake and walk the short loop around the lake in search of photo ops. I didn't go far before seeing all kinds of natural beauty. The geese and swans are out on the lake and lots of songbirds were flying around too, landing on the cattails and other vegetation along the lakeshore. I LOVE being out in nature and it's so easy to do when you barely even need a jacket! When I was taking pics, temps were around 50. As I'm writing this blog at 11:30, we're already up to 58! (The normal high, for reference, is 57 on April 15th!) This afternoon, I'm confident that it will be t-shirt and shorts weather for some! While on my walk, I was lucky enough to meet a dog owner of some gorgeous Shiba Inu's. The breed is one that I've been interested in for a while, ever since losing my beloved Pomeranian Boomer last year. My husband & I haven't gotten a new pet yet, but when we do, we're going to strongly consider a Shiba. The pair of Shiba's I ran into were so well-mannered and so pretty! But I digress. The story of the day is the gorgeous weather. There's potential for temps to be even a little higher tomorrow..and I'm forecasting 70 by Friday! What a turn-around from our cool start to the month! Hope you enjoy it as much as I am: not too hot, not too cold. Just right. Here are all the "Chik's Pics" I snapped out at Richfield Lake.
Thanks as always for reading my blog! -Chikage
