WINDLER: Chik's Pics - The Big Six-O

Some people might say reaching the big six-o isn't something to celebrate, but I'm not talking about age...I'm talking about temps!  In a season that's been cooler than average with 60-degree temps hard to come by, we're finally taking a turn for the warmer.  We came close on Monday afternoon with a high of 58 despite lots of clouds.  I spent part of the afternoon with my little girl Austen (she's 18 months old) at Long Lake Regional Park in New Brighton.  That was the site of my latest batch of "Chik's Pics."  Check out this blog for all the pics and some temperature tidbits thrown in for good measure.

WINDLER: Chik's Pics - Cloudy But Still Mild

Monday, April 13th, 2009 - Long Lake Regional Park in New Brighton

The weather: mostly cloudy & mild.  High: 58  It felt really pleasant outside, and there was enough filtered sun through the clouds to even prompt pulling out the sunglasses.

We've landed just shy of 60 the last two days, and at long last, it looks like today-Tuesday-will be our turn to reach the big six-o.  And not a moment too soon!  Our normal high is now 56 degres.  We're averaging 3.8 degrees cooler than normal this month so far and haven't hit 60 or warmer since 61 on March 22nd!  In addition, we've only had 3 days this year at or above 60...that's really low given how far into April we are.

And though it wasn't quite 60 yesterday, it was quite nice to spend an afternoon with my daughter at Long Lake Regional Park.  Since I'm normally working during the afternoon, there's something to be said for filling in for Patrick Hammer who usually does the morning and midday weather duties.  The payoff for waking up at o-dark-thirty is that you get to go home at noon!!!  And that gave me the chance to share some fun with Austen.

Austen's All Smiles!

Here are all my "Chik's Pics" from Long Lake Regional Park.  In addition to lots of Austen pics, I snapped shots of a little boy hunting for "dinosaur bones" in the playgound, some people walking dogs, and some walkers and joggers.  Everyone seemed to be embracing our milder temps!

Thanks as always for reading my blog!
