All weekend long, I was out with my little girl Austen enjoying the great weather. But as nice as it was, I was also constantly checking the computer to see what our official temperature was. Why? Because we still haven't seen our first 60 degree high this April. We got there 3 times last month, and yesterday, we came oh so close...with a high of 59. So though we missed out on a milestone, it was a glorious Easter weekend nonetheless. Saturday, I took Austen to an outdoor egg hunt, then Sunday, I took her to a park I had never visited before: Lochness Park in Blaine. Check out my "Chik's Pics" of the day from Lochness Park in my latest blog. Want to read my previous blog?
Sunday, April 12th, 2009 - Lochness Park in Blaine The weather: high overcast, mild & breezy. High: 59. After enjoying Easter festivities in the morning, I decided to take my 18-month old daughter Austen for a ride and a little adventure. We had never visited Lochness Park but decided to check it out and take in the mild & pleasant weather. Austen in her Easter Dress! What we discovered was a beautiful park with trails that surround Lochness Lake. There's a fishing pier and plenty of park benches along the path. The park is in a remote part of Blaine. I probably could have driven by the entrance a dozen times without realizing it was there! But thanks to my research online before our drive, I knew exactly where to go. Austen loved looking out at the water, but what she liked even more was seeing a little dog named "Izzy" that was out for a walk with its family. The little girl guiding Izzy down the fishing pier was so cute. She and her little brother invited Austen to pet their dog, which she gladly accepted. I took a bunch of pics of that family at the park. They said they came to the park often and they gave me the lay of the land before I made my way around the lake. Unlike a lot of parks where all you see is homes and all you hear is cars whizzing by, this was a nice, quiet respite! Check out all my "Chik's Pics" right here: As for the 60-degree hurdle, I think we'll finally get there tomorrow. It's been a while, March 22nd to be exact. I think we're due. And once we get there, signs point to an extended streak of 60+ temps that could last through the end of the week!
Thanks as always for reading my blog! -Chikage
