There are some streaks you wish had never been started.  That's the feeling I've been getting from talking with people lately about our late spring.  The streak: 16 straight days of below normal highs.  April so far is running about 4 degrees cooler than normal and we've only seen 3 days this year at 60 or warmer...none in April!  Get more info on our late spring plus check out my "Chik's Pics" of the day from Garden Park in Edina in my latest blog.

WINDLER: Chik's Pics - It's About Time!

Thursday, April 9th, 2009 - Garden Park in Edina

The weather: sunny and delightful!  Unlike Wednesday where the winds were whipping and gusting higher than 30mph, the winds were on the lighter side...making it feel great to be outside!  The high: 53, the warmest since 55 on March 24th.  As great as that sounds, 53 was still a degree shy of "normal"...so our streak of below normal temps streched to 16 days.

Streak or no streak, 53 sure was nice!  I stopped over at Garden Park in Edina to take my "Chik's Pics" of the day.  There was a man chatting on his cell while sitting on a park bench overlooking the pond.  There were a few moms watching their kids play on the playground.  And there were the kids, who I'm sure are loving every second of being outside without the heavy coats on after a long Minnesota winter.

So it looks like the streak will end tomorrow.  We're forecasting a high of 56 degrees, which would surpass the April 10th normal of 54.  And if we don't do it tomorrow, this weekend looks like a sure thing.  In fact, we could see our first 60-degree warmth since March 22nd!  The timing couldn't be better for egg hunts and Easter festivities.  As for our first 70-degree day?  No signs of that kind of warmth in the immediate future.

Thanks as always for reading my blog!
