Sunday, March 15th - Warmest Day of the Year at Central Park in Roseville When temperatures soar into the 50s, you know Minnesotans will respond by heading outdoors to enjoy the warmth. My little girl Austen and I were ready for a taste of spring and that's exactly what we got on our outing to Roseville's Central Park. Austen & I put on our sunglasses, left our heavy winter coats and hats at home, and strolled around Bennett Lake.
Mommy, it feels good to be outside! We were not alone. There were lots of people out walking...some in shorts, some with dogs, and some through deep puddles that had formed from the melting snow. Though Austen has become a big fan of snow (she couldn't get enough of walking around in our yard all bundled up this winter), she seemed just as fascinated by seeing it melt. Her favorite part of the trip was watching the ducks and geese that have returned to the open water on Lake Bennett. They were squawking up a storm and Austen loved every minute of it!
Look, Mommy! Birds! While on our walk, I took plenty of "Chik's Pics" to show on the air Monday morning (filling in for Patrick). I think the ones from the playground - partially under water - really tell the weather story of the day! The March meltdown is underway and the snowpack has more or less disappeared in the Twin Cities. Here are all of my "Chik's Pics" of the Day: We made it to a high of 56 degrees - warmest since 60 on November 6th! And today, I'm forecasting 62 - warmest since 65 on November 5th. Can you say "Spring Fever?" Enjoy the warmth and thanks as always for reading my blog! -Chikage
