New Record for Minnesota's Earliest Tornado

According to the National Weather Service, a third tornado struck on March 6, making it the state's earliest tornado.

The National Weather Service reports an EF-1 tornado touched down in rural Faribault County, between 5:04 p.m. and 5:15 p.m. It traveled 10 miles, hitting a campground and destroying a garage, barn and some sheds.

Half an hour later, two tornadoes touched down in Sherburne and Freeborn counties.

No injuries were reported in any of the events. The previous record was March 18, 1968.
