The weather service rated the Zimmerman tornado an EF-1, saying its estimated peak winds were 107 mph. The tornado was on the ground for 13 minutes and with a width of 300 yards traveled 8.9 miles.

An F-1 rating generally means a tornado carries wind speeds of between 73 mph and 112 mph and has the potential to damage roofs and siding, send vehicles off roadways, or potentially release mobile homes from moorings.

A survey team in Clarks Grove Tuesday determined the heavy damage there was caused by a tornado, according to Chief Meteorologist Dave Dahl. Clarks Grove is in Sherburne County, more than an hour south of the Twin Cities, near Albert Lea.

Dahl said that tornado also was rated EF-1, sweeping across 12.5 miles of land.

There were no reported injuries or deaths.
