No one was hurt after a vehicle fire in Le Sauk Township Monday morning.

According to the Stearns County Sheriff's Office, authorities were called to the scene on 30th Avenue just north of 17th Street at 6:18 a.m.


Authorities said 48-year-old Joseph Sowada, of Albany, was driving a 2001 white Dodge Caravan when the vehicle backfired multiple times and began emitting smoke.

When Sowada exited the vehicle to check on it, he told authorities he noticed a small engine fire that quickly grew. Sowada was the vehicle's sole occupant and was uninjured.

The Sartell Fire Department was able to extinguish the fire and the vehicle was determined to be a total loss.

The fire forced a closure of 30th Avenue for rooughly an hour and a half, according to the sheriff's office.
