1 Killed in Crash in Minnetonka Stemming from Police Chase

One person was killed in a car crash Friday in Minnetonka stemming from a police pursuit, according to a release from the city.

Authorities said officers began pursuit of a vehicle around 2 p.m. after it was seen traveling at high speeds. While officers attempted to pull over the vehicle, the driver continued to flee, according to police. 


A release from the Hennepin County Sheriff's Office said officers lost sight of the fleeing vehicle, and later came upon a two-vehicle crash involving the suspect vehicle. 

Authorities said the driver of the fleeing vehicle, who was identified only as a 30-year-old Montrose man, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the other vehicle, identified as 59-year-old Karen Ann Webster, was transported to Hennepin County Medical Center.

The release said the driver is in serious condition.
