Traffic is once again moving after Interstate 94 eastbound was backed up for miles Wednesday morning in the west metro.

According to the Minnesota Department of Transportation, overnight construction on I-94 eastbound between Lowry Avenue and 7th Street in Minneapolis ran behind schedule.

The work was expected to clear by 5 a.m., but the barrels weren't pulled out of the way until about 6:45 a.m.

Crews reopened both lanes in the work zone just before 7 a.m.
