Mudslide Closes Stretch of Highway 68

Part of a southern Minnesota highway is closed Sunday after a mudslide blocked the roadway.

The Minnesota Department of Transportation is working to clear mud, fallen trees and debris from Highway 68 west of Blue Earth County Road 45 near Courtland.


"I got out here and I seen it and I was like, oh boy we got a mess," Tony DeSantiago with MnDOT told 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS. "We're just going keep working out here for the night.  We're not going to open the road. We're a little nervous about the condition of that hill whether it's very stable or not."

MnDOT said the road will remain closed until crews can clear the area, and drivers should find alternate routes.
