A motorcycle hit a Great Dane "running loose" on the road in Pierce County, Wisconsin Saturday night.

The sheriff's office reports the 46-year-old driver and 45-year-old passenger, both from Randolph, Minnesota, were taken to the hospital with injuries.

Jeffrey Thompson was driving with Stacey Popp when they collided with the dog around 8:24 p.m. on County Road F, just north of County Road MM. 

Popp was transported from the scene by air to Regions Hospital in St. Paul, while Thompson was taken by ambulance.

The sheriff's office said, as of this morning, Popp was still in the hospital.

The dog died on the scene, and its owners were notified, according to the sheriff's office.
