A 60-year-old Pierz woman was injured after her van collided with a car she was trying to pass, causing that vehicle to hit a Royalton school bus Friday morning.

The Morrison County Sheriff's Department reports neither the school bus driver nor its passengers were injured.

A release states Jane Gerwing of Pierz was traveling west on Nature Road west of Little Rock in Buckman Township. She attempted to pass a car being driven by a 17-year-old minor. She then noticed the school bus, driven by 70-year-old Susan Oelrich of Royalton, stopped in front of the vehicle she was trying to pass.

She collided with the 17-year-old's vehicle, and that vehicle struck the school bus, which had been displaying its caution lights at the time of the collision.

According to the release, Gerwing was transported by private vehicle to seek medical attention. Her condition is unknown. Both her van and the car being driven by the 17-year-old sustained significant damage. The school bus sustained minor damage.

The 17-year-old driver of the car was not injured. The crash remains under investigation.
