Monday will be the first weekday commute since some major closures started in downtown Minneapolis.
The northbound and southbound access ramps connecting Interstate 35W with downtown are now shut down.
The northbound ramp will stay closed until fall and the southbound ramp is blocked off until 2021.
Metro Transit is asking people to start work earlier or later than usual. Early and late express buses are being added. Metro Transit is also asking commuters if possible to try and work from home at least one day a week.
"To get in and out of the city efficiently, we're adding service on a number of routes for both weekday service as well as weekends," Brian Funk with Metro Transit said. "We're a stress reliever throughout this road construction project."
Most I-35W routes will be diverted onto local streets at 31st Street to increase the speed around the construction.
More information can be found on the Metro Transit website.
