Must Watch: Driver in Lunch-Hour Police Chase Wanted in Aggravated Assault Case

One person is in custody after leading police on a pursuit through the east metro Wednesday afternoon, according to St. Paul Police Department Spokesman Mike Ernster.

Ernster said the pursuit began around 12:15 p.m. near McKnight Road and Conway Street in St. Paul. 


He said officers attempted to stop a vehicle occupied by a suspect who was wanted in an aggravated assault case that involved a firearm. When police attempted to make the stop, the suspect vehicle fled. 

The pursuit went through Maplewood, North St. Paul and Oakdale before returning to St. Paul.

Eventually, the suspect vehicle crashed while it was exiting from Interstate 35E onto Maryland Avenue. Ernster said the 29-year-old suspect was apprehended in the 300 block of Maryland Avenue. 

The suspect was taken into custody and booked on multiple charges. 

No one was injured during the pursuit.
