1 Dead, 8 Injured after Car Crash Near Lester Prairie

A 69-year-old man is dead after a two-car crash near Lester Prairie on Christmas day, and eight people are injured.

The man who died was driving a 1994 Dodge Caravan and was extricated from the car along with the 63-year-old passenger, Bonnie Richter.


The sheriff's office said in a press release Virgil Richter was transported by air care to North Memorial Hospital in Robbinsdale where he later died. 

The second car, a 2007 Chevorlet Suburban, had seven people: 35-year-old Dolores Ramirez De Juarez (the driver), 36-year-old Salvador Juarez-Medina, two 3-year-old children, a 13-year-old, 10-year-old and infant. They were all transported to the hospital.

A family member tells us Ramirez De Juarez, Juarez-Medina and one of the 3-year-old children remain in the hospital as of Wednesday night. The other four children have been released and are recovering with loved ones.

At 4:36 p.m., the McLeod County Sheriff's Office and other first responders arrived on the scene of the accident near 180th Street west of Baldwin Court. 

The crash remains under investigation.
