WATCH 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS Morning for the latest traffic updates.
It was an easy start to the Wednesday morning commute before rain and snow were expected to hit the metro area.
KSTP Traffic Reporter Josie Smith reported the roads were clear and dry Wednesday morning.
Here's a look at traffic incidents Smith was following Wednesday morning:
At roughly 8:30 a.m., Smith reported traffic was at a standstill, and reduced to one lane, along Excelsior Boulevard due to a crash south of Cedar Lake Road.
I've circled the crash for you Hwy 100 NB prior to Cedar Lk Rd. Traffic getting by in left lane only. Traffic stopped from almost 50th St. pic.twitter.com/GThwzOk1jI— KSTP Traffic (@kstptraffic) November 1, 2017
At about 8 a.m., Smith said to plan for a roughly half-hour drive on eastbound Interstate 394 from Interstate 494 to downtown Minneapolis. Traffic was slower due to earlier crashes on Interstate 94.
A crash occurred in the center lane on northbound Highway 52 at the Lafayette Bridge.
A crash on westbound Highway 610 near Highway 169 blocked the right lane.
A snow-rain mix is expected to hit the metro area at about 11 a.m. Wednesday, which could make for a messy evening commute as 2 to 4 inches of snow could accumulate.
Then, KSTP Chief Morning Meteorologist Ken Barlow said the sleet is expected to turn into a drizzle between 8 and 11 p.m.
