KSTP Traffic Round-Up: Vehicle Fire on I-35W in South Minneapolis Causes Delays

Drivers traveling along Interstate 35W near south Minneapolis have been delayed due to a vehicle fire.

KSTP Traffic Reporter Josie Smith reports the incident occurred in the area of Diamond Lake Road.

 

A crash also blocked the left lane on southbound Interstate 35W near 95th Avenue in Blaine.

A second crash occurred on westbound Interstate 494 near Portland Avenue, also in the left lane.

Meanwhile, Smith reports the southbound Highway 280 ramp to eastbound Interstate 94 has officially reopened after roadwork last week.

Additionally, the city of Champlin and the Minnesota Department of Transportation are working to replace two Elm Creek bridges, as well as making other improvements along Highway 169 between East Hayden Lake Road and the Mississippi River.

As a result of the projects, there will be alternating lane closures on Highway 169 from Brooklyn Park through Champlin until the middle of November.

The projects themselves are scheduled to run through the fall of 2018.
