It was a quiet start to the Thursday morning commute in the metro area; however, a road closure was reported southwest of the greater metro area.

The Minnesota Department of Transportation said it had closed a stretch of Highway 19 from Highway 169 to Henderson as the result of flooding from the Minnesota River. Officials added the route will remain closed until the water recedes.

MnDOT officials also said it's likely Highway 93 from Highway 169 to Henderson will also close if the water level continues to rise.

Officials will also close Water Street between Highway 13 and Plato Boulevard in St. Paul at 6 p.m. Thursday, due to forecasted flooding from the Mississippi River.

Meanwhile, KSTP Traffic Reporter Josie Smith said overnight crews wrapped up work at the junction of westbound Interstate 94 and Interstate 35W.

Smith also said a vehicle spun out and hit the median wall on southbound Interstate 494 past Interstate 394.

Then, Smith reported a crash on southbound Highway 100 past 36th Avenue slowed traffic significantly.
