November 17, 2017 07:49 AM

WATCH 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS Morning for the latest traffic updates.

It was a windy start to the Friday morning commute for metro area drivers.

KSTP Chief Morning Meteorologist Ken Barlow said wind gusts of up to 30 mph were moving through the Twin Cities early Friday morning. Barlow said the wind was expected to decrease to about 15 mph by the afternoon.

Barlow added drivers won't have to worry about icy roads because the weather will be too warm.

KSTP Traffic Reporter Josie said roads were clear to start the morning commute.

One incident drivers may want to watch out for occurred in the area of Stinson Boulevard and Broadway Street in Minneapolis. A water main break caused flooding in the street. Authorities are working to learn what caused the break.

Additionally, a crash occurred in the left lane of southbound Interstate 35W, just past Interstate 694. Smith said traffic was moving slowly to about 95th Avenue in Blaine.

Meanwhile, she said said drivers planning to take Highway 169 in the north metro this weekend may want to prepare for possible delays as the highway will be reduced to one lane.
