Just when drivers thought most of the work on Interstate 94 in the west metro was done for the construction season, more closures start this week.

The Lowry Hill Tunnel in Minneapolis will close Monday and Tuesday between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. each night. The eastbound side will shut down Monday along with the ramps from Highway 55 to I-94 eastbound and I-394 eastbound to I-94 eastbound. The westbound lanes will close at the tunnel on Tuesday. Follow the detour to Hennepin Avenue/Lyndale Avenue.

Also starting Monday, I-94 will be reduced to two lanes in both directions from 49th Avenue to Dowling Avenue in Minneapolis. During off-peak hours the interstate will go down to single lane. During this time, crews will be working on the Camden Bridges. The ramp from 49th Avenue to I-94 eastbound will close starting Monday as well. According to the Minnesota Department of Transportation, the work should clear by Saturday October 14. Learn more about the project.
