A state trooper responded to two separate calls of the same man on Interstate 35W in Minneapolis Monday morning.

The second call led to a scuffle in which both the trooper and the man received minor injuries.

Lt. Tiffani Nielson of the State Patrol said a trooper responded to a call of a male on I-35W at around 10:05 a.m. Monday. The trooper asked the man to leave the freeway, and he complied.

Then, Nielson said, a second call was received around 10:48 a.m. The same man appeared to be back on the freeway, this time, according to the call, allegedly exposing himself.

The same trooper responded again, locating the man who had changed clothing. The trooper reported he approached the man to arrest him, and the subject resisted. The trooper received assistance and was able to subdue the subject.

Nielson said the suspect was a 34-year-old man from Illinois. He was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center for mental health evaluation.
