Crash Between Train, Car Halts Northbound Northstar Rail Service

A collision between a car and a train has halted further northbound rail service on the Northstar line between Minneapolis and Big Lake Monday evening.

Metro Transit said in an alert the northbound Northstar train at 6:15 p.m. will not run and will be replaced by buses.

Metro Transit spokesman Howie Padilla said no one was injured in the car-train crash at Egret Boulevard Northwest and Coon Rapids Boulevard Northwest. The incident remains under investigation.

The scene of the crash was mostly cleared before 7 p.m. Metro Transit sent a tweet at 6:33 p.m. that a final train would depart from Minneapolis sometime around 6:45 to accommodate as many passengers as possible who hadn't already boarded replacement buses.

In a tweet, Metro Transit apologized for the inconvenience.
