A 50-year-old woman injured when she was struck in what police said was a hit-and-run crash Friday night in Amery, Wisconsin, has died.

Amery police report Lisa Allen of Amery was transported to the Amery Hospital and Clinic, then airlifted to Regions Hospital in St. Paul in critical condition following the incident, which took place at around 6:35 p.m. Friday in the area of Keller Avenue South near Central Street.

A release said police were informed by the Ramsey County Medical Examiner that Allen had died Monday morning.

According to the release, witnesses provided a vehicle description, license plate number and last-known direction of travel to officers responding to the scene.

Working with law enforcement in St. Croix County, the suspect and vehicle were later located at an area motel. Michael S. George, a 59-year-old whom the release said listed his address as homeless, was arrested and transported to Polk County Jail.

He is charged with felony hit-and-run involving death and made his first court appearance Monday afternoon.

The matter remains under investigation.
