The day after the Wild defeated the Detroit Red Wings to end a two game losing streak, teammates applauded the efforts of rookie defenseman Nick Seeler.
"I'm still a little sore, but not bad. You don't see those fights very often. It just happened to be that kind of fight, you don't really know what to expect going into it, that was the outcome, so I'm glad we're both alright after that," said Seeler.
The Wild trailed 1-0 to the Red Wings when Seeler and Luke Witkowski mixed it up. Wild forward Zach Parise was impressed by Seeler changing the tone of the game.
"That was an old school fight. I think it really got the crowd into the game and I think it was a big boost to our team. It was a good fight. You don't see a lot of those anymore, just exchanging blows to the face, it was a good scrap. From a teammates perspective those are the things you appreciate when a teammate stands up for you," said Parise.
"It was the right time to step in there. I think we could've been a little flat in the first and it was good to get those guys going a little bit and it paid off with a couple of quick goals," Seeler added.
