White Bear Lake Boys Hockey Uses Huge First Period to Defeat Tartan

The White Bear Lake Bears boys hockey team defeated the Tartan Titans 6-1 Tuesday evening at Aldrich Arena in Maplewood to advance to the section finals on Friday.

The Bears jumped on the Titans early and often. Sophomore forward Sam Newpower scored 58 seconds into the game to give the Bears a 1-0 lead. Just 34 seconds later, senior forward Austin Carroll added another goal to give White Bear Lake a 2-0, only 92 seconds in.

The Bears added two more first period goals to close out the opening period with a 4-0 lead, never looking back from there.

White Bear Lake will play the winner of Hill-Murray vs. Stillwater (game is on Wednesday night) on Friday evening.
