Highland Park's Josh Aune is a throwback high school football player in a couple ways. First, he plays both ways - starring on both offense and defense. He's also the first player in many years from a St. Paul city school to commit to play college ball for the Gophers.

Aune, who lines up as a runner and receiver on offense and can play defensive back or linebacker on defense, had a state-line for the ages in Week 2 of the 2017 season.
Facing Fridley, Aune ran the ball 28 times for a staggering 334 yards and six touchdowns.
Apparently, running the ball nearly a quarter of a mile didn't tire Aune out. As soon as he ran the ball into the end zone, he lined back up to play defense - where he recorded 12 tackles including a pair of sacks.
Aune is expected to play either linebacker or defensive back as a Gopher.
