Tommies Season Ends With 24-10 Loss to Defending DIII National Champs

The St. Thomas football team allowed a punt return touchdown and an interception return for a touchdown in the fourth quarter as their season ended with 24-10 loss to top-ranked Mary Hardin-Baylor Saturday in the Division III quarterfinals on Saturday in Belton, Texas.

The Tommies (11-2) only touchdown of the game came in the second quarter when Jacques Perra hit Jackson Hull for a 26-yard score which tied the game at 7.

It was tied at 10 heading into the fourth quarterback, but Bryce Wilkerson changed the flow of the game with a 67-yard punt return touchdown for Mary-Hardin Baylor to put the Tommies down 17-10. Perra threw an interception on their next possession that was returned 33-yards for a touchdown by Kris Brown.

Mary Hardin-Baylor is the defending DIII champions and will play Brockport in the national semifinals on December 9.
