Super Bowl Power Couple: Zach and Julie Ertz

January 30, 2018 10:30 PM

Zach Ertz was the leading receiver for the Philadelphia Eagles against the Vikings in the NFC Championship game, but as the Eagles were celebrating a trip to the Super Bowl, Ertz was feeling a little lonely.

“Being out there with all the confetti flying, with her not being there, was tough,” Ertz said at the Super Bowl Opening Night media event in St. Paul. “All the other players had their wives there, so it was not easy.”

Zach’s wife, Julie, had a good excuse. She was playing for the United States Women’s National Soccer Team in San Diego. The United States won and she did not find out until after her game that her husband’s team did, too. Julie’s reaction went viral on social media.

“I just think people relate to a loved one living out their dream and you being able to see it,” Julie Ertz said Monday night. “This is his moment. This is his game. My family, his family, we’re here to support him and all of his hard work.”

Zach and Julie Ertz are two world class athletes. Julie has already won a World Cup and now Zach is trying to win his first Super Bowl.

“It’s as far as you can go in your sport and that’s massive,” Julie says. “That’s huge. That’s an amazing accomplishment.”
