The Vikings have signed free agent safety Chris Crocker and released defensive end Rakim Cox, according to the Vikings website.
Crocker played the last six seasons in Cincinnati under the new Vikings coach Mike Zimmer, who was the defensive coordinator for the Bengals at the time. He also played under Zimmer in Atlanta in 2007.
This will be the fourth team Crocker has played with since being drafted by Cleveland in 2003 with the 84th overall pick. He has also played short stints with Atlanta and Miami.
The Vikings also released defensive end Rakim Cox to make room for Crocker. Cox was signed by the Vikings after the draft as a rookie free agent from Villanova.
