Heading right up to today's trade deadline, Minnesota Twins catcher Kurt Suzuki's name kept appearing in numerous trade rumors. Instead of trading him away, the team decided to extend his contract for at least two more seasons.
The Twins officially announced the terms of the deal as two years $12 million with a third year vesting option, depending on his amount of plate appearances. The Twins didn't announce the plate appearances number.
Last December the Twins signed Suzuki to a one year contract for $2.75 million and he re-paid the favor by making it to the All-Star Game for the first time in his career. Suzuki, 30 years old, is batting .304 with 41 RBIs on the season.
