The New York Mets beat up Twins starter Ricky Nolasco for seven runs in the first inning Friday as the Mets beat the Twins 9-1.
The Mets had seven straight batters reach base as Nolasco surrendered three doubles, a triple and a home run. Ike Davis hit a two-run double, Kirk Nieuwenhuis hit a triple and Taylor Teagarden hit a two-run homer. Davis went 3 for 3 with two doubles.
"Obviously the first inning was pretty terrible," Nolasco said. "I think it would have been better if I would have told them what was coming."
Nolasco is the Twins' Opening Day starter.
The Twins are back at it tomorrow against the New York Yankees.
