Web Extra: Stillwater Reaches Boys State Hockey Tournament After Upsetting Hill Murray 2-1

Created: 03/01/2014 12:22 AM

The Stillwater Ponies are on cloud nine after defeating the Hill Murray Pioneers in a dramatic 2-1 victory.  On a magical night that produced an upset earlier in the evening with Centennial defeating Blaine 2-1, Stillwater was able to pull of an even bigger upset.

Coming into the game Hill Murray was 23-3 and riding a 10 game win streak, while Stillwater was a mere 15-10-2 on the season.

However it's not how you start, but how you finish, Stillwater's Josh Benson had 24 saves in the biggest game of his career.  Now the ponies get set for a date in St. Paul next week in the Minnesota High School Hockey Tournament.
