The Minnesota Gophers men's hockey team welcomed Penn State into Big Ten hockey with open arms. They beat the Nittnany Lions 3-2 Sunday night and 5-2 Monday tonight to complete the two game sweep.

The Gophers were led by junior forward Sam Warning's two goals on Monday. Minnesota also got goal help from Travis Boyd, Ben Marshall, and Justin Kloos.

Boyd scored just 2:35 into the game and Don Lucia's team never looked back. The team took a 3-0 lead before Penn State got on the scoreboard, but by then the damage was done.

Minnesota stays atop the Big Ten standings with a 15-2-3 record and a 5-0-1 record in the conference.

Minnesota will get a short rest before hosting Ohio State in the 2014 Hockey City Classic Friday night at TCF Bank Stadium.
