Team USA U18 Hosts Training Camp at Schwan Super Rink in Blaine

An ice rink in Blaine will host some of the best women's hockey talent across the nation.

The U.S. U18 Women's National Team is holding training camp at the Schwan Super Rink from Friday through Wednesday.

The camp will decide who will be invited to compete with the team at the International Ice Hockey Federation Women's Under-18 World Championship in Budapest, Hungary, March 23-30, 2014. Teams from Canada, the Czech Republic, Finland, Hungary, Japan, Russia, Sweden and the U.S. are expected to compete.

Team USA has won three gold medals and three silver medals since the tournament's inception in 2008.

There are eight Minnesotans have been invited to the camp: 

  • Erin O'Neil, goalie, Minnetonka, Hopkins High School
  • Sydney Baldwin, defense, Shorewood, Minnetonka High School
  • Grace Bizal, defesne, Minnetonka, Hopkins High School
  • Taylor Flaherty, defense, Lakeville, Lakeville North High School
  • Patricia Marshall, defense, Thief River Falls, Shattuck-St. Mary's School
  • McKenna Brand, forward, Nevis, North American Hockey Academy
  • Maliya Rogers, forward, Minnetonka, Minnesota Junior Whitecaps
  • Taylor Williamson, forward, Edina, Edina High School

The U18 training camps marks the second training camp at the Super Rink in December. The U.S. Women's National Team, which will become the 2014 Olympic Team, also trained at the rink.
