Tyus Jones scored 25 of his 29 points in the second half leading a furious rally that fell short, as his Apple Valley Eagles lost 80-70 to Chicago's Whitney Young.

Televised live by ESPN2, the game was the first-ever Minnesota prep basketball game to air on a national network.

The game was much-anticipated due to the matchup between Jones and Whitney Young star Jahlil Okafor.

The two have alternated turns holding the title of the nation's top recruit in the Class of 2014, and have become close friends through their many partnerships on varioius national all-star teams.

Jones and Okafor held a mutually coordinated signing ceremony last month in which they announced they'll attend Duke for college.

Duke coach Mike Krzyzewksi was in the Apple Valley gym for the matchup.

Okafor scored 25 points as his Dolphins ran overcame an early Apple Valley lead to take a 38-29 advantage at halftime.

Jones' hot shooting in the second half - after he scored just 4 in the first half - gave his Eagles hope, but the rally fell short in the end.

The loss snaps a 35-game win streak for Apple Valley, who are the defending Minnesota State Class AAAA Champions.

The Eagles came into Thursday's spotlight game off a victory over fellow State Champion De La Salle, who won the Class AAA title last season.

Whitney Young entered the game ranked 34th in the current USA Today Super 25 poll.   Apple Valley was 41st.

Henderson, Nevada's Findlay Prep, featuring former Robbinsdale Cooper standout Rashad Vaughn, is ranked #1.
