An already bad day for the Gophers men's basketball team started with recruit Reid Travis (DeLaSalle) choosing Stanford, and became worse early Friday evening. KSTP has learned coach Richard Pitino and guard/forward Wally Ellenson had an incident. In addition, center Mo Walker has been suspended six games. That means he'll miss the Maui Invitational opener vs. Syracuse.

The school announced that Walker violated university rules.

As for Ellenson, his father John confirmed that Pitino and Wally had an incident recently in practice.

"Wally and coach are working it out," John told KSTP's Darren Wolfson.

Ellenson is not expected to play in Friday night's regular season opener vs. Lehigh.
