Target Field Bleacher Project to Improve Views in Right Field

Target field is the second newest ballpark in Major League Baseball, but since it opened in 2010 it's seen some changes.

The Twins took away the trees in the batter's eye and added a new video scoreboard. This year there's another big change fans will notice.

The change involves the right field bleachers. It's to address the problem of seats with obstructed views and to relieve congestion on the main concourse.

The change will create a whole new area for group and single-game ticket purchasers, similar to the Budweiser Roof Deck.

There will be seven rows of drink-rail seating that will replace the current bleacher seating in sections 139, 140 and 141. Those drink rails will include stool seating with backs.

A new canopy at the top of the sections will provide heat and protect fans from the weather.  

The new plan promises to improve the view from right and some parts of center field.

The Twins will pay for the improvements internally and will not ask for money from the Ballpark Authority.

The upgrade won't just affect the seating in right field. The existing bleachers will be donated to three local baseball fields.

Construction begins this month and will be done by January. The finishing touches and stools will be in place by March.

Ticket prices for the new seating area haven't been announced yet.
